Frequently asked questions

Questions?

Here are some of the most common questions I get about working together.

If you don’t see your question listed or are ready to schedule your consult, contact me.

  • I am in Kirkwood, Missouri and work with clients online throughout the State of Missouri.

I also have a specific telehealth certification via my license in the State of Missouri, called APIT™, that allows me to work with anyone located in another state that has state telehealth reciprocity with Missouri, which at this point includes over 35 states.

  • Yes, I am currently accepting new clients. I maintain a small caseload so that I can provide the excellent quality of care that I feel my clients are entitled to.

  • Currently, I am an all virtual practice. Sessions occur over a HIPAA compliant video platform.

  • It is just like in-person therapy, except from the comfort of your own home. A link to the telehealth session will be sent to you via email once an appointment is scheduled. Simply click on the link at the time of your appointment.

  • Fees are:

    • $250 for an Initial 45 minute Evaluative Consultation.

    • $225 for a 45 minute follow-up session.

I am an out-of network provider and do not accept insurance. Because I do not bill insurance, I collect payment directly from you on the day of the service. You will be provided with a Venmo address to submit payment. I will occasionally make special arrangements for clients to pay via a personal check.

In order to reserve an Initial appointment, pre-payment via Venmo or via personal check are required at the time of booking the consultation.

For follow-up appointments, payment is requested the morning of our session, prior to our start time.

  • I do not accept insurance. I am considered an out-of-network provider.

If you have a PPO-type plan and want to submit a claim yourself for out-of-network potential reimbursement from your insurance company, I can give you a receipt that can be used for that purpose. Please note that submitting an insurance claim means that I will need to give you a mental health diagnosis, which goes into your permanent health record.

  • I require 48 hours notice of cancellation or rescheduling appointments. Please notify me via text or email if you need to cancel or reschedule.

Late cancellation or an appointment rescheduling request is defined within 48 hours of your session, at the time your session is scheduled to begin.

Any late cancellations/reschedules or no-shows will result in full fee payment for the missed session.

  • Congress enacted a “No Surprises Act” on January 1, 2022. It is meant to protect insured consumers from surprise medical bills when they inadvertently receive care from out-of-network hospitals, doctors, or other providers that they did not “choose”.

I am an “out of network” provider for all insurance companies. You will always be made aware of the cost of sessions with me via my website, consent forms and through verbal confirmation directly with me. I am and will remain clear and transparent about the costs of services agreed upon. You may ask me directly about any costs about which you may be unsure, and you will be provided with clear and direct information and answers to your questions.

  • An Initial Consultation is a 45 minute appointment with me. It is a conversation to get to know you and what concerns and potential goals you may have. We decide together if I am the best match for what you are wanting and if I am not, I will help you find alternative options.

  • We will meet once a week to start. Some clients benefit from twice weekly or sessions that last longer than 45 minutes. This is something we can discuss together. I do not believe that people need to be in therapy for years on end. Most of my clients choose a few things to focus on and we work on those from 4 to 6 months to make the changes they want and feel good about.
