Online Anxiety Therapist Across Missouri

Quiet your mind. Catch your breath.

It feels like nothing is working in your life.

Along with constantly worrying and rushing around, racing thoughts day and night keep you from ever having a chance to rest. The exhaustion often leads to being easily annoyed or snapping at those around you (even when they really don’t deserve it).

As much as you don’t want to say it out loud, you’re not happy and you wish you could just run away from it all. You feel completely trapped and stuck, and like you can’t do anything right.

Maybe recently, you’ve been…

  • Panicking anytime you have to make a decision

  • Distracted at work and making more mistakes than usual

  • Having headaches, stomach issues, body aches, or chronic overwhelm from the stress

  • Replaying conversations over and over again in your head

  • Using TV, social media, food, alcohol, or shopping as bandaids for your feelings

  • Unmotivated to leave the house or see anyone outside of your obligations

And maybe people in your life have told you that therapy might help, but the added pressure of another thing on your to-do list seems like it’ll only overwhelm you more.

Know this:

A life where you feel balanced & at peace is possible.

  • In the beginning of our work together, we’ll meet weekly so I can understand what you’re going through. I’ll ask questions that will help me get to know what you’ve experienced in your past, and what you’d like your future to look like. We’ll set some goals and acknowledge that showing up for yourself in therapy is a huge step in finding a better way forward.

  • Next, I’ll teach you how your body and mind and heart are connected, and some tools and techniques you can use to help you slow your thoughts and find a sense of calm and safety in the present moment. You’ll notice how your anxiety can create physical sensations, more painful thoughts and emotions, and learn how to be more okay noticing and being with those feelings and thoughts.

We’ll talk about how your early life experiences may be connected to some of your worries, fears, and patterns, and take a look at how your reactions might reflect what you learned back then. Then, you’ll be able to notice these patterns when they arise in the future, and be able to interrupt them and find a sense of calm again.

  • Once you’re able to step back from your anxiety, you’ll realize that the ways you’ve learned to cope with it aren’t your fault, and you can stop feeling ashamed. You’ll have more compassion for yourself, and recognize that that critical voice in your head isn’t your own. It’ll become clear that everyone experiences these feelings and reactions sometimes, and that they don’t make you a bad person.

You’ll be able to make your own wellbeing a priority, and create simple, enjoyable daily practices that make things go more smoothly. With the tools to pause, breathe, and physically calm your nervous system through discomfort, you’ll be able to ride the waves of emotions with more ease as they come and go.

Ultimately, you’ll learn to recognize and let go of knee-jerk reactions and be kinder and gentler to yourself, realizing that you’re a human who is continually learning — and that’s okay.

Frequently asked questions

  • Yes, anxiety often causes physical symptoms such as headaches, muscle tension, shortness of breath, a racing heart, upset stomach, and poor sleep. It’s not uncommon for prolonged stress and tension to manifest in the body, sometimes even as chronic illnesses like auto-immune issues, chronic headaches, or digestive issues, but through holistic therapy methods, you can find hope and relief.

  • Anxiety can definitely lead to irritability and anger. When we're anxious, our bodies are on high alert, and this can make us more sensitive and reactive to everyday obstacles and stress. Learning coping strategies in therapy can help you manage these emotions with more ease.

  • Anxiety can put a strain on relationships by causing excessive worry, communication difficulties, and disconnection or numbing out. It can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or avoidance, which can negatively affect closeness and trust.

  • Along with everything I’ve learned in 30+ years as a psychologist, I take a truly holistic approach to therapy. Meaning, we’ll acknowledge how the mind, body, heart, and spirit are connected, and use techniques that support the wellbeing of all aspects of you.
