Online Counseling for Parenting Across Missouri
Find confidence. Feel closer.
Does it feel like you’ve devoted your entire life to caring for people who don’t appreciate you?
It’s always something! When you’re not running around taking care of everyone and getting them where they need to be, you’re dealing with a conflict or crisis. Even when you do get to enjoy a calm or happy moment, it never lasts long. There’s a tinge of guilt at how relieved you are when the kids are out of the house, but you’re so exhausted from constantly walking on eggshells and rushing around that you can’t help it.
No one seems to notice or care how much you’ve sacrificed and done for them, and it’s left you feeling resentful, exhausted, and empty.
Maybe recently, you’ve been…
Fighting more often with your partner or co-parent
Feeling shut out by your kids & aren’t sure why
Yelling more than you’d like to
Excessively worried about who your kids are hanging around with
Fearful for your children’s future & that they won’t be capable of being on their own
Feeling helpless, hopeless, & trapped in your life
And maybe your family is making you feel like you’re the problem, but you’re not sure what else you could possibly do, or how it would make any difference.
Through therapy,
You can have peace & mutual respect in your home.
-
In our first few sessions, I’ll get to know you and get caught up on what’s going on in your life. We’ll talk about what you’d like to get out of therapy, and set some goals. Then, we’ll discuss what is and is not working in your relationships with your children and/or partner, and look at some of the challenges you’ve been facing lately.
-
Next, we’ll work on noticing your own feelings and reactions, as well as those of your children and or partner. You’ll start to see patterns in the arguments you’ve been having, which will allow you to be aware of what’s happening when they emerge in the future.
I’ll teach you specific techniques that can help you slow down and calm down in high tension situations, and the words to use to communicate a need for space or a break. We’ll also learn how you can reconnect with your kids or partner after a fight or issue, and be able to talk about what happened without reigniting a power struggle.
-
When you have all the tools and skills you need to turn down the heat in an argument, you’ll be less anxious and more confident in facing future conflicts. You’ll realize that the things you learned in your childhood about what a parent should be and do for their family may not be healthy, and that that’s not your fault. We’ll work together to unlearn the unhealthy and unhelpful patterns, and re-learn new ones that work for the life you want to have.
You’ll feel less self-doubt, and more competent and focused on solutions as a parent. It will be easier for you to move through uncomfortable emotions without breaking down, and you’ll be able to withdraw from overwhelming situations to reset.
Feeling in control of your reactions will empower you and make your interactions with your children and partner more productive and meaningful. You’ll know how to repair your relationships after conflicts and let go of the fear that you could lose their love or approval.

Frequently asked questions
-
Sometimes, if the situation calls for it. I have ample experience in working with mothers and daughters together in sessions and I am trained in family therapy. I also do parent feedback and coaching, where co-parents and family members can meet with me to discuss what’s going on with their child or children. Once we’ve established what your goals and needs are, we’ll decide together if it would be better to do one-on-one therapy or bring others in.
-
Therapy provides a safe space to explore challenges, communication issues, and helps develop healthier ways to connect and understand your loved ones. While each parent/child relationship is unique and has unique challenges, the skills you learn through therapy can certainly help interactions go more smoothly. You’ll begin to feel more confident in leading those conversations and engaging with your child.

It's natural to have hesitations about laying the problems you’re dealing with out on the table, but the goal of therapy is to facilitate better understanding and communication. Whether we decide to work together one-on-one or bring other family members into sessions, I will be there every step of the way to help navigate through conflicts and guide you toward progress.
